Buttermilk Waffles
Prep time : 5 minutes | Cook time: 10 minutes | Makes 3 servings
The best part of making waffles growing up? The wait. We’d all hover around the waffle maker, eyes glued to that little light, waiting for it to turn red. The moment it did, it was every person for themselves—waffles handed out hot and fresh, one by one. No time to waste, we'd load them up with berries, drizzle on way too much maple syrup, and dive in. There was nothing better than that warm, syrupy, berry-topped goodness. Weekend breakfasts are just superior!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
1.5 cups all purpose flour
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 eggs, beaten
1.5 cups buttermilk
1/4 cup melted butter
TOPPINGS
maple syrup
fresh berries
butter
INSTRUCTIONS
Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk the dry ingredients together until well combined.
Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a separate small bowl, whisk the wet ingredients together until fully blended.
Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, and use a spatula to mix until fully incorporated and no lumps remain.
Preheat the Waffle Maker: Preheat your waffle maker until it’s ready. Lightly grease the plates with butter.
Cook the Waffles: Pour about 2/3 cup of the waffle batter into the centre of the preheated waffle maker, being careful not to overfill. Close the lid and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until your waffle maker beeps to indicate that the waffles are done.
Serve: Carefully remove the waffle from the maker and serve immediately.
